"I am ready to fight for new jobs for Rutherford and Cleveland Counties" Jim Proctor was elected Mayor of Lake Lure for five terms. He was born at the Rutherford County Hospital. Jim and his wife, Robin, live in a home that Jim’s great-great-great grandfather bought in 1866. Jim’s mother was a school teacher at the old Lake Lure School. Jim’s grandfather, Jim Washburn, was a leader with the Farmers Federation in both Rutherford and Cleveland Counties. Jim has long ties to this region and he dearly loves this region. Jim states that; “As a five term Mayor, I think the most important thing I learned was how to listen to my constituents and how to then relay your wants and wishes to other elected officials.” Jim has been very active in civic and political issues since he was a teenager and he has always tried to find ways to make our communities better. When necessary, Jim has been very successful lobbying the state to act in ways good for not only Lake Lure, but the entire region. Jim is now ready to bring his expertise in coordinating, negotiating and problem solving to the State House in Raleigh. In the past, Jim has been active with many issues, but his current focus is the creation of new jobs and a more stable economic climate for our region. Jim believes this must be done by looking for new businesses and the expansion of existing businesses. Of course, while doing this Jim knows we must never forget the family farms and local entrepreneurs that have always been the backbone of our economy. Along with more jobs Jim knows we must also look for better ways to educate our youth and anyone seeking to expand their knowledge base. Rutherford and Cleveland Counties have the needed infrastructure and a willing work force to attract new businesses. We have two great community colleges to help train workers for any new job. Not only is our region poised to be a great place for job expansion; the State of North Carolina is one of the best places for a business to locate. CNBC has a recent report that lists North Carolina as the forth best state in the nation to do business. Jim Proctor is the best candidate to go to Raleigh, work with the department of Commerce and bring new jobs here. Jim will bring to Raleigh the enthusiasm and passion for Rutherford and Cleveland Counties needed to bring much needed jobs to our area. As the economy picks up Jim will make certain everyone at the state capital knows we are here. Jim Proctor is optimistic about the future and he is excited about being a part of the upcoming expansion of our economy.
Here is a note from Jim Proctor I am very excited about the possibility of serving the people of this great state. But before I can serve I must conduct a successful campaign. The 112th district is very large and the cost to canvas the entire district will be great. With thousands of brochures to purchase, hundreds of yard signs to order, scores of radio ads to place, and two counties to cover, I will need help. Even though I have run very successful campaigns in the past I have never had to actively ask for contributions. I will be the first to admit this is difficult for me to do, so I am first turning to the people who have known me the longest and who know me best. I invite you to get involved in my campaign and help make a difference. I ask you to consider volunteering and if possible to make a contribution. I assure you any contribution, either time or money, will be greatly appreciated. Our goal is to raise $40,000 by the end of September, and I humbly ask for your support in helping us rise to this great challenge. If you do send a personal check by mail, please make it out to “Jim Proctor for NC House”. I welcome your help in my journey to represent our region at the State House in Raleigh. Thank you in advance for your encouragement, generous support, and prayers. Robin and I are both grateful for your friendship and wish you the best for what we hope will be a great year for all of us! Sincerely yours,
